The studio repeatedly uses the plural, betas. Colin Johanson’s June 16 philosophy post mentions when “betas begin” in Fall 2027, and the official site repeats that wording on its signup. Source: ArenaNet: Our Guild Wars Philosophy
For comparison: Guild Wars 2 held three Beta Weekend Events in spring 2012, each available to players who had already bought the game. The first took place April 27 to 29, 2012. The game released August 28, four months after the first test. Each weekend concentrated on a different map region.
Guild Wars 3 is buy to play without a subscription, the model Guild Wars 2 used at launch, and GW2 gave beta access to players who bought the game in advance. ArenaNet has not confirmed whether that will happen again. So far, its only stated route is the free registration at guildwars3.com plus store wishlists.
