What does Vaelwarden mean?
Your character is a guardian of Orr, protecting its people and spirits. Each player also has a Seeker that connects them to those spirits and serves as a mount. Read more on the Vaelwarden page.
How does Guild Wars 3 connect to Guild Wars 1 and 2?
There are two connections. In the lore, GW3 takes place in Tyria, the world of both earlier games, more than a thousand years before the original. Can you play Guild Wars 3 for free?
No, you buy the game to play. On June 16, 2026, ArenaNet confirmed that GW3 will launch as buy to play without a subscription fee, using the Guild Wars 1 and 2 model. Will Guild Wars 3 charge a subscription?
No subscription is planned. ArenaNet confirmed there is no subscription fee, and studio head Colin Johanson also rejected battle passes, describing them as a hidden form of subscription fee.
